Who we are

The AltMountain News Desk covers hedge funds, private equity and venture capital: fund launches and raises, SEC filings, regulation, allocators and emerging managers. AltMountain is published by Growth Preservation LLC; its publisher is Ward McKinley. Contact the desk at hello@hedgemountain.com.

How stories are made

• Data first. Most stories start from public SEC filings (Form D, Form ADV, Form 13F) that AltMountain reads every day. Figures are taken from the filings as filed; “raised” means the cumulative amount sold reported on Form D, never fund assets or performance.
• Primary sources. Other facts come from primary sources where possible (SEC releases, pension board materials, a firm's own announcements) or from reputable news outlets, which we link to and credit. We do not copy other outlets' reporting.
• AI-assisted, rules-bound. Stories are produced with AI tools working from those filings and cited sources, under written rules: only verifiable facts, no invented numbers or quotes, neutral language, no investment advice or performance claims, and links to every source. Weekly filing roundups are generated directly from SEC data. Stories are published automatically and are not individually reviewed by an editor before publication.
• Links. Funds and firms mentioned link to their AltMountain pages, where the underlying filings are shown.

Corrections

If something is wrong, email hello@hedgemountain.com with the story link. We correct factual errors promptly and note substantive corrections at the end of the story. Fund managers can also correct their fund's data by amending their SEC filing, which updates AltMountain automatically, or by claiming their listing.

Independence and conflicts of interest

AltMountain sells clearly labeled sponsored placements and manager services. Advertisers and paying customers have no say over news coverage and receive no favorable treatment in it. AltMountain's publisher also manages Copernicus Hedge Fund LP; news stories do not cover that fund, and it appears on the site only in placements labeled “Sponsored · Operator's fund.” See the Disclosures.

Using our work

Journalists, researchers and other publications may quote AltMountain stories and reuse their figures and charts with credit and a link to the story.
